Working alongside the team at EJO, the South
of England-based English language specialist
approved by the British Council, the team
at Helimetrics Ltd have developed a custom-made
English language training module to assist
those who need to use English as a second
language to work in and around and to operate
helicopters.
The module has initially been aimed at qualified
helicopter instructors with a basic working
knowledge of English. The module lasts for
two to three weeks and has initially centred
on the Gazelle helicopter in the training
role. The module aims to both improve the
studentࢡsic English and by the use if
intensive one-on-one sessions to develop
the student࣯mmand of aeronautical terminology.
During the module that uses EJOà°²oven
approach of living with a British family,
the student receives extensive instruction
both formally and informally. Use is made
of helicopter models and of visits to operational
helicopters and their operating bases. During
2006 students were taken to the Army Air
Corps Centre at Middle Wallop, to a UK Police
Air Support Unit and to visit a privately
owned Eurocopter EC120 helicopter where
focussed hands-on tuition was possible using
a real helicopter.
Living with a family is a well-tried approach
to learning English. Helimetrics Ltd has
been able to combine the unique talents
of its directors to provide an intense ,enjoyable
and productive solution for those needing
to develop their 嬩copter宧lish quickly.
Helimetrics Ltd works exclusively with EJO
to provide an English language solution
for those needing to develop their helicopter
vocabulary and general English. Further
general information on this module can be
obtained from Helimetrics Ltd directly but
application for formal courses will be normally
via the EJO at
www.ejo.co.uk,
or contact
Steve.
